The Gränsfors grinding stone quarried from natural stone consists of two unique natural materials selected to best meet the need for a coarse and fine grinding.
The coarser side consists of a sandstone from Orsa with a grain size between 120-200 grains. The sandstone is a fossil-free sedimentary rock that consists mostly of silica-bound quartz. The sandstone has been used as a grindstone since the 16th century. With its coarse, slightly porous surface, it provides the good qualities for reproducing the original edge and sharpness before it is sanded again.
The fine side of the pier consists of fine-grained Los scale, a unique material found in Los, that has been used since the late 19th century. The loose stone has a grain size between 500-1000 grains and has a smooth and hard surface. With the smooth and fine-grained surface, the Los stone has good qualities for creating a sharp edge with good sharpness and bite.
The design makes it very user-friendly as it is easy to get a good grip, which makes it easy to sharpen its current edge by following the current grinding and grinding angle. It has been protected with a tarnished vegetable tanned leather from Tärnsjö with a small loop for easy attachment to pants or on the backpack, perfect for carrying in the bush and on site.
